The Smashing Pumpkins broke new ground when they released their double-disc, epic ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ back in 1995. Now, Pumpkins mastermind Billy Corgan claims that a deluxe edition of ‘Mellon Collie’ could contain material from up to 75 unreleased tracks.

In an e-mail sent out to Smashing Pumpkins news website Crestfallen, Corgan says he is working on over 75 unreleased or alternative mixes of songs from the ‘Mellon Collie’ era. The musician is still unsure how many of these tracks will end up on the deluxe edition of ‘Mellon Collie,’ but there will be at least three extra CDs. A DVD of concert footage may also be included in the set, bring the grand total to six discs.

‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ isn’t the only reissue that Corgan has up his sleeve. The 1996 five-disc fa -favorite ‘The Aeroplane Flies High’ is also getting the deluxe treatment to its already plentiful content. ‘Aeroplane’ could receive two extra discs in its resurrected form, including the Smashing Pumpkins’ 1995 live shows at the Double Door in Chicago, Ill.

This follows last year’s re-releases of the Smashing Pumpkins’ first two albums, 1991′s ‘Gish’ and 1993′s ‘Siamese Dream.’ Both discs included remastered versions of the albums, as well as DVDs and more bonus material. The band is also ready to release a disc full of new songs in ‘Oceania,’ which is set to drop on June 19.
