Anderson Cooper hates homeless animals!!! Alright, not really. But on Cooper's CNN program, 'Anderson Cooper 360,' the host put Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan on the 'RidicuList' for appearing on the cover of PAWS Magazine and starring in a wrestling-themed commercial for Chicago furniture business Walter E. Smithe.

Billy Corgan promoted his Resistance Pro wrestling organization in the Walter E. Smithe commercial, participating in the ad thanks to a $50,000 donation the furniture company made towards PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving). Along with appearing on the cover of the no-kill shelter's bi-yearly magazine, Corgan raised over $140,000 for PAWS in 2013 alone.

Anderson Cooper and his writers obviously missed the charitable aspect of Corgan's PAWS cover and Walter E. Smithe commercial, failing to even mention its context. “So perhaps Billy Corgan is, I don’t know, off his alternative rocker," Cooper said. "But I think maybe there’s more to this, maybe he’s being ironic, or maybe when the cool rock stars start doing less rock starry things, it kind of makes us face our own morality. See I want R.E.M. to stay just the way I know and love them, I don’t want 'Everybody Hurts' to suddenly be used in an Excedrin commercial. I don’t ever want to see a product called Eddie Vedder’s Prune Jam. I want to see neither Stephen Malkmus nor Thom Yorke on the cover of AARP magazine.”

Despite Cooper's somewhat comedic take on Billy Corgan, the Smashing Pumpkins frontman fired back with a few barbs via Twitter:

PAWS Chicago also responded to Billy Corgan's addition to Cooper's 'RidicuList':

The Smashing Pumpkins recently released the single, 'Beige Beige,' which will be featured on the band's next album, 'Monuments to an Elegy.' The album is set to drop on Dec. 9. To pre-order the record and download 'Beige Beige,' click here.
