Slipknot‘s Corey Taylor is a big name rocker himself, but he has his own musical heroes, including heavy metal legends Black Sabbath.

Sabbath recently announced that the original lineup will embark on a tour and release a new album in 2012, and Taylor tells Loudwire that he counts himself among the fans who are excited about the historic reunion.

“I am pretty stoked,” Taylor proclaimed to us. “It’s their first full album in 33 years.”

And what of Black Sabbath’s choice to work with producer Rick Rubin on the album? Although Taylor recently launched into an onstage tirade against Rubin for his work on Slipknot’s 2004 album’ Vol. 3 (the Subliminal Verses),’ he explains to Loudwire that the famed producer will likely work well with Sabbath’s lineup of Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, and Bill Ward.

“This is one of those instances I actually think Rick Rubin is perfect for,” he says. “He gets out of the way and will let them get down to it.

Taylor adds, “I can only hope they record it in the right way. I can only hope they get to do something righteous and not just something to make a buck. I think with Geezer and Tony pushing it forward, and, obviously, Bill and Ozzy, I think it will be fantastic. I am looking forward to riff fest!”

Additionally, Taylor, who is also the founder and frontman of Stone Sour, divulges that he’s ready to dig into Iommi’s new book ‘Iron Man.’

“I just got Tony Iommi’s book. It was actually sent to me and signed personally signed by Tony Iommi,” he reveals. “And it was completely unexpected. It says, ‘To Corey, all the warmest regards, Tony.’ That was really, really cool man. That was really cool. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet but I’m really looking forward to it.”

Check back with Loudwire soon for our full Corey Taylor interview, in which he talks Slipknot, Stone Sour and a whole lot more.
