Slayer Hitting Studio in March for New Album

Good news, Slayer fans: Your long wait for new music is almost over. The band has announced plans to head into the studio next month to start laying down tracks for their twelfth studio album, and first since 2009′s ‘World Painted Blood.’

The news comes courtesy of guitarist Kerry King, who revealed the band’s timetable for new music during a recent video interview with Artisan News (watch below). King’s report comes after drummer Dave Lombardo promised new material in an interview last fall, and soon after King talked about taking a fast, “old school style” approach to recording the next record.

The best part of Slayer’s renewed activity is that it means guitarist Jeff Hanneman has recovered from the bacterial infection he contracted last year, which ended up requiring skin graft surgery to repair. As bassist and vocalist Tom Araya put it in an interview last year, “It was a flesh-eating virus, so he was really, really bad. So we’ll wait for him to get better, and when he’s a hundred percent, he’s gonna come out and join us.”

Take a look at King’s video interview below. What are you hoping to hear from the next Slayer record — aside from skull-crushing riffs, of course?
