We've all had the fear of hitting a deer as we drive down a highway at 60-70 miles an hour. It's not a pretty sight for your car or the deer who happens to be the victim. But what if you were screaming down the highway on a skateboard?

A recent skateboard competition took a strange turn for a couple of skaters and a deer. These guys are racing down a closed highway at about 40 mph, wearing only shorts & t-shirts and little more protection than a helmet and maybe some knee and elbow pads.

A group of skateboards passes by with no problem then one guy behind the group gets a surprise when a doe jumps in his path. You see the skater almost tackle the deer, he grabs on and tries to keep from crashing too bad. He does take quite a tumble but only receives some cuts and bruises. It's all caught on tape by the skater behind who happens to be filming the race with a helmet cam. He too takes a tumble, but luckily no one was seriously injured.

Maybe they should have been wearing those deer whistles on their helmets instead of the cameras! Food for thought.

P.S. I also noticed in the video there is a sign posted that says the curve should be taken at 15 mph, these guys are doing about 40. How do they negotiate that turn on nothing but a skateboard? Not a hobby I will be taking up anytime soon.
