Sammy Hagar recently discussed the upcoming album by The Circle, the supergroup featuring his fellow ex-Van Halen bandmate Michael Anthony, guitarist Vic Johnson and drummer Jason Bonham. The LP is already finished, but the frontman says there isn't a title for it just yet, though there are some recurring themes throughout the songs.

"I don't have a name for it," he tells the The Mercury News. "Right now, I am calling it Hey Hey Hey, because I say that in two songs - the first song and the last song. It's about the world monetary system. It's about crooks and it's about good people and it's about the Devil and it's about God. It ends up it's about greed. Greed makes people do weird stuff — it makes you hurt other people, take advantage of someone, it makes a war. It almost all has to do with greed."

"Everyone thinks, 'Hmm, money is the root of all evil,'" Hagar adds. "But, really, without greed, money is a beautiful thing - you can change the world, you can buy happiness, you can heal the sick, feed the poor, you can stop a war."

Several months ago, Hagar discussed how intimidating it was to work on a record of all original material by The Circle as opposed to his other supergroup, Chickenfoot, given what the music of the former is up against in terms of what the band performs in a live setting.

"I'm just afraid that, how can you compare my catalog with something we might write today? Chickenfoot's got its own thing, but The Circle, we play Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, Montrose, Chickenfoot … It's, like, to write songs that fit in that set, boy, they better be good, right? [Laughs] In between 'I Can't Drive 55' and 'Right Now,' let's say, what are you gonna … a brand new one you're gonna slip in there? Phew! You don't wanna put the people to sleep. So I'm a little nervous about doing a Circle record. But a Chickenfoot record … I'm gonna do a record — let's put it that way."
