The latest trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will debut Thursday night during NBC’s coverage of the 2016 Olympics, but until then, we have some new intel on Gareth Edwards’ spinoff / prequel to hold you over. Specifically, Edwards has offered interesting details on a new desert planet (yes, another one) featured in Rogue One, while Riz Ahmed shares a little background on his mysterious Rebel pilot character, Bodhi.

Entertainment Weekly has been building anticipation for the new trailer with a series of features on Rogue One, the first in Lucasfilm’s Star Wars Story anthology. Those U-Wing ships we saw last week aren’t the only new thing we’ll see in the film — as Edwards tells EW, there’s also a planet that we haven’t seen before. It’s called Jedha:

The Force is basically in Star Wars like a religion, and they’re losing their faith in the period that we start the movie. We were trying to find a physical location we could go to that would speak to the themes of losing your faith and the choice between letting the Empire win, or evil win, and good prevailing. It got embodied in this place we called Jedha. It’s a place where people who believe in the Force would go on a pilgrimage. It was essentially taken over by the Empire. It’s an occupied territory… for reasons we probably can’t reveal. There’s something very important in Jedha that serves both the Jedi and the Empire. It felt very much like something we could relate to in the real world.

According to Edwards, our heroes will venture to Jedha to try and recruit a particular person from a Resistance group to aid their mission — which is, as you well know by now, to retrieve the plans for the original Death Star.

Led by Felicity Jones’ rebellious Jyn Erso, the team includes Donnie Yen’s warrior Chirrut Imwe, Diego Luna’s Captain Cassian Andor and Riz Ahmed’s pilot Bodhi Rook — the latter of whom we know very little about. Ahmed, who currently stars on the HBO series The Night Of, spoke with EW about his character, described by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy as a “troublemaker.” Ahmed has a more sympathetic view of the “intense” cargo pilot:

A character like Bodhi is not born into the life of a soldier. He’s a pilot working for the Empire, doing his job, getting on with it. But when you put ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, it can freak them out. It can inspire deep passions. So I’m gonna defend Bodhi.

You may have noticed that Bodhi still wears a patch bearing the Imperial insignia on his jumpsuit, but that doesn’t mean he’s sympathizing with the enemy. Ahmed explains:

I think it’s to remind you of where you’re coming from, remind you where your debts are. Do you know what I mean? For me personally, every day, looking at that, it reminds you of what you’ve done.

Hopefully Ahmed’s interview with EW means we’ll be seeing a bit more of Bodhi in the new trailer, which airs this Thursday night on NBC.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16.
