Rage Against the Machine Bassist’s New Band Wakrat Unveil Video + Tour Dates

Fresh off a period of promoting his band Future User last year, Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford resurfaced in yet another band, a group called Wakrat. The trio played their first show last September, with Commerford's former bandmates Tom Morello, Zach de la Rocha and Chris Cornell all on hand to lend their support. In the time since, Wakrat have been pounding away in the studios and now have a new song and video to share.

"Knucklehead" is the name of the song and the dizzying video for the track can viewed above as the trio attempt to convey the chaotic nature of their performances with some interesting camera shots. The band attached cameras to flying drones that were buzzing around their rehearsal space as they performed. Meanwhile, Go Pro cameras strategically positioned throughout the space caught the rest of the action. Wakrat consists of Commerford, who sings and plays bass in the band, drummer Mathias Wakrat and guitarist Laurent Grangeon. "I am as excited about Wakrat and what we're doing musically as I was when Rage Against The Machine first started," Commerford says. "Wakrat is brand new, we're not a 'known commodity,' so we're looking forward to finishing the album, paying our dues and earning our fans, and getting out there and playing shows as often as possible."

As he stated, the band is in the home stretch of recording the disc and they've started to map out their live support for the album. At present, they've booked a number of August European Festival appearances, kicking off Aug. 18 at Frequency in Vienna. Also currently on the books are August stops at Belgium's Pukkelpop, Holland's Lowlands, Paris' Rock en Seine and the Reading and Leeds festivals in the U.K. Look for North American shows being announced soon.
