So just de-friended another xenophobe (and her friends). She posted a meme with women in burkas that said "Trump wants them out of the U.S. do you agree?" And all the backward ass country folks (not my original choice of an "f-word" for here) were agreeing and adding even worse comments.

What I wanted to write was, "since you are judging people on looks, ya'll look like a bunch of assholes to me", but I refrained. Sometimes its hard to be the better person.

Here's a little something I've noticed about racism, sexism and homophobia. When you encounter those folks you realize pretty quickly they aren't the smartest bunch. Their  responses are full of misspellings, grammatical errors, illogical responses and violent "solutions". I have yet to have run into an intelligent racist. I'm sure there are some out there who somehow got led astray, but by far it's the territory of the ignorant.

I grew up in a multi-racial neighborhood and even though the Mexican gangs were bad, my Hispanic friends were too cool to hate. I was one of the high school kids who never had been around gay people. I used all the slurs that high school kids use and no doubt thought beating a gay guy was a good idea (fortunately never did it). As an adult I started meeting a bunch of gay folk, mostly lesbian musicians and friends. I actually had a regular card game with a group. It was obvious very quickly that they were no different from me (they even liked girls like me!). Seriously though, they didn't give a crap who I was sleeping with after the card game and I didn't care what they did either.

So think about this for a moment. Kids don't hate until they're taught too, and most can unlearn that hate just as quick. Interestingly enough, people in the military prove this every day. Once you're forced to bunk with and rely on people different than you, you learn really quick that you are one and the same. In the end, it doesn't matter how you learn that fact as long as you learn it.
