Pro-Shot Footage of Korn and Brian ‘Head’ Welch Jamming ‘Blind’ Surfaces
Carolina Rebellion hosted the reunion performance Korn fans never saw coming. If you weren’t one of the lucky ones in attendance at the festival, you’ll be glad to know you can now experience Brian “Head” Welch‘s one-off performance of ‘Blind’ with his former band via this pro-shot video.
The May 5, 2012, outing of Carolina Rebellion played host to dozens of great performances from Shinedown, Volbeat, Slash and more. Despite all the talented acts on the bill, no moment was more heartfelt or newsworthy than when former Korn guitarist Head joined his old friends Munky, Fieldy and Jonathan Davis for a stroll down memory lane.
“For a long ass time…this spot right here has been very lonely,” Davis said to the crowd of thousands from the area of the stage Head used to occupy.”This is weird…but good” said the current frontman of Love & Death prior to joining his old bandmates on stage for run through the stomp-worthy 1994 jam ‘Blind.’ After headbanging and dread-swinging like he never missed a beat, Welch exited the stage as fans went nuts and an emotional Davis said, “I’m sorry. I’m all choked up people. F—, give me a second.”
In the wake of Welch’s almost 4-minute return, many were left wondering if there is a possibility he will return to the band full time. While that seems unlikely for now, Welch’s former co-guitarist, James “Munky” Shaffer, recently implied that the rest of the band would be open to his return. “It’s just something that has to be super well-planned and it has to come naturally,” said Munky of the possible reunion. “I’m really happy just to reconnect with my old friend.”
For now both parties have gone their separate ways — Head returned to tour behind Love & Death’s debut EP ‘Chemicals,’ while Korn gears up for their last string of U.S. dates prior to their summer tour abroad.
