Independence Day Fireworks Celebrations in and Near Abilene
The Big Country skies will be lit up in celebration of Independence Day this year. Most communities are including the light shows as part of hometown celebrations, and promise to be worth your time. Here’s a list of places you can go to celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks shows and celebrations in and around Abilene and the Big Country.
The 4th annual "WesTex Connect 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" will take place at Grover Nelson Park on ES 11th near Loop 322 on Wednesday, July 4th at dusk.
You can watch the fireworks for free, or get VIP access is available, which includes a parking pass and six VIP tickets that are each good for admission to the zoo, seating in Festival Gardens (lawn chairs & blankets permitted) and food & drink by Sharon's Barbecue. Enjoy live music from Freeride from 7:30-9:30.
Individual tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for kids age 6-12; 5 and under free. Rain date is July 5th.
The 'Boomfest Fireworks Show' will take place on Thursday, July 3rd from 6pm-midnight, but that's only part of the festivities going on at Hubbard Creek Lake in Breckenridge. 'Music at the Rocks' will take place at City Park, featuring live music. You're encouraged to bring a lawn chair. Admission is $10 per car load, with half of the proceeds going to benefit the Breckenridge VFD.
The 4th of July celebration in Cross Plains will start around 4pm, and include the fireworks popping after dusk at Treadway Park, off Highway 36 near Highway 206.
Free hot dogs, watermelon and cold drinks will be served throughout the day. There will be a bounce house for the kids, a 42 tournament, horseshoes and volleyball will also be included in the fun.

The Snyder Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual "4th of July Celebration" will kick off with a parade at 10am. The day will feature food, softball, sand volleyball and basketball tournaments, arts & crafts, live music throughout the two-day event. The fireworks are scheduled to go off at dusk on the night of the 4th.
Clyde's Festival By the Lake will feature food vendors, games, camping and more. There will be live music from Santa Fe, Guadalupe Pirates, and Belle Plaine Revival July 4th. 5 Times a Charm, Holloway, Three Shades Blue, Dave Hobbs and Bo McDowell July 5th at Clyde Lake, located at 1705 Little John Ct. The fireworks will go off after dark each night.
