Social Media is a fascinating thing.  It can also be frustrating when people resort to certain "cop-outs" when trying to make a point. One of the absolute worst is when they claim that their argument or claims will come true someday (or "It's coming, just you wait).

This is what is called "The Fallacy Of Future Vindication", or the "I Told You So Fallacy". No one knows what will happen in the future, but some "predict" that their argument will come true in that time.

A great example you hear all the time now is, "they are taking away all our liberties one at a time and one day you'll wake up and have none, just you wait".  This is just nonsense through and through. This has elements of the "slippery slope" fallacy as well. Just because laws and liberties are changing, it doesn't mean that you'll ultimately have none. It only means that we are modifying our laws to suit our times.

Let me put this in simpler terms to understand. Many of you had or have an older relative who has said "you're gonna regret that tattoo, just you wait", as if some future employer or   other person would hold it against you. What granny doesn't understand is that these days everybody has a tattoo and the chances of you being judged by that tattoo are pretty slim.

People resort to this kind of argument because it is impossible to prove. They don't know the future. They are literally placing a "bet" on future events in hopes of saying "I told you so". It's just plain lame and it means that they have no evidence that proves their argument now.
