Pearl Jam Offer ‘In the Moonlight’ Featuring Josh Homme as Fan Club Holiday Single
Pearl Jam‘s ‘Ten Club’ continues to be one of the better fan club experiences, with the band rarely failing to lavish the members with interesting new releases. The group’s latest year-end ‘Ten Club’ offering is a two-sided single featuring a live version of ‘In The Moonlight’ featuring Josh Homme on one side and ‘All Night’ with special guests Glen Hansard, Liam Finn and Joseph Arthur on the other.
‘In The Moonlight’ was recorded during the band’s PJ20 music festival back in 2011, with the Queens of the Stone Age vocalist joining Pearl Jam for the performance. The track definitely has that Seattle sound, but actually feels more like a swampy rocker from Alice in Chains‘ catalog. The song was initially a b-side from the ‘Binaural’ album.
Pearl Jam have a long history of releasing special tracks to their fans around the holidays. Their first, issued in 1991, featured the songs ‘Let Me Sleep (Christmas Time)’ and ‘Ramblings,’ a track that was recorded during their touring with Red Hot Chili Peppers.
They’ve also recorded and released a number of cover songs for their holiday singles, including Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way,’ Wayne Cochran & the C.C. Riders’ ‘Last Kiss,’ Elvis Presley‘s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ and ‘Little Sister,’ John Lennon‘s ‘Gimme Some Truth,’ The Ramones‘ “I Just Wanna Have Something to Do’ and ‘I Believe in Miracles’ and The Who‘s ‘Love, Reign O’er Me’ amongst others.
Pearl Jam have reportedly begun work on their next album, but are taking their time completing the effort.
