Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" has been covered by many artists and seen many varied renditions over the years, but a new mashup version expertly blends in the seminal rock smash with a current monster hit, Hozier's "Take Me to Church."

Dubbed "Take Me to Teen Spirit" by creator Hello Luqman, the mashup primarily uses the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" vocals of Kurt Cobain with the soulful haunting musical backing of the Hozier track. However, bits and pieces of the "Take Me to Church" vocals do find their way into the mix and work to accentuate the message of Cobain's belting on the original track.

At first, this may seem like an odd fit with the original "Smells Like Teen Spirit" being a hard-driving anthem, while Hozier's "Take Me to Church" is a slower, more soulful track, but by lifting Cobain's vocals, it somehow all fits together quite well. A look at Hello Luqman's YouTube channel finds mostly pop mashups and some cover songs. Check it out here. And listen to more mashups, including an odd Nirvana / Jackson 5 mix, by clicking the button below.
