One of the great things about Grammy week is that artists from all walks of life gather in one space for a weekend saluting music and more often than not you end up getting some unexpected collaborations. One such collaboration happened Sunday night (Feb. 14) at Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party, when Nirvana's Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear joined Beck onstage to perform a salute to the late David Bowie.

According to Rolling Stone, the foursome were led by Beck on vocals and acoustic guitar and a string section joined in as they played Bowie's classic "The Man Who Sold the World." Nirvana fans will recognize the track as one of the band's most familiar covers from their MTV Unplugged in New York album. Watch fan-shot footage above.

Bowie tributes are coming fast and furious over Grammy weekend, with Lady Gaga set to lead a salute to the "Thin White Duke" during the Grammy ceremony this evening. During the Davis party, Bleachers' Jack Antonoff also teamed up with Adam Lambert to perform a cover of "Let's Dance." And during the opening introduction of the Grammys pre-telecast awards, the Ray Chew Orchestra performed a bit of "Let's Dance" as well before the first Grammys were given out.

The union of surviving Nirvana members has been more frequent in recent years. Grohl and Smear have continued to make music together in Foo Fighters, while Krist Novoselic has been a special guest both on album and in concerts. The trio also previously recorded the song "Cut Me Some Slack" with Paul McCartney for Grohl's Sound City documentary soundtrack.
