Nickelback are getting closer to the release of their eighth studio album, 'No Fixed Address.' The disc is due Nov. 18 in North America and frontman Chad Kroeger recently took a few moments to chat with 'Loudwire Nights' host Full Metal Jackie about the disc. Check out the interview below:

After so many albums and so much success, what's the satisfaction you get from making new music?

Just simply making new music. You know, that’s really it. Once you’ve got that bug in your blood, it’s tough to get rid of it. Making music and creating things that really make you happy. And we’ve also said to each other, you know the second we can’t say anything new or we’re just sort of doing this for the wrong reasons, we should stop. And it hasn’t happened yet. We’re all still having a great time and we’re still the best of friends and so, I don’t see any signs of slowing down.

What track on 'No Fixed Address' do you hope becomes timeless like 'Photograph,' 'How You Remind Me' and 'If Today Was Your Last Day' and 'Rockstar'?

My crystal ball’s a little hazy these days. It’s a tricky one ... You hear a song like 'Photograph,' it’s like well that’s just quintessential Nickelback. But you know, when we first did it, everyone was like, 'Wow, this is a departure for you guys.' And the same reaction was garnered when we played 'Rockstar' for anyone. They thought the same thing, “Well this was a bit of a left turn.” But now you hear it on the radio and they said, “Well that’s Nickelback.”

We’ve got some serious left turns here. We just hired a horn section the other day. The guys that played on 'Thriller' for Michael Jackson. And we got some ladies in singing some background stuff, and Flo Rida’s rapping on this thing. We’ve really tried to do some different stuff. And that’s what we try to do with every record. We try to really stick our toes into different water that we haven’t ventured into yet.

Musicians tend to describe making an album as a great experience, or a hard process with glorious results. Where does 'No Fixed Addressed' fall and why?

Very glorious results. [Laughs] We’re gonna have to see. I’m gonna have to see how the fans love it. I mean, we all really love it. Everyone is saying that this is the best record we’ve made in a long time. And so, I guess, time will tell. It was, I mean over a year, on and off making this thing. We hit record all over the place -- rented houses in L.A., rented houses in Maui, rented houses in Vancouver, took a portable rig with us over an entire European leg. I mean, when I say that the album is all over the map, I really mean it. [laughs]

Nickelback isn't a metal band but you're a big time metalhead. How do the things you love about metal color the music you make with Nickelback?

Well, we’ve definitely entered the metal arena a few times with the songs like 'Side of a Bullet,' where we’ve actually got Dimebag. There’s a whole bunch of different solos off of a lot of different records all chopped up, courtesy of his brother Vinnie. Other songs like 'Because of You,' it’s metal. But that’s not all we do, honestly. And I would be bored to death if we just got up there and played one kind of music. And the same thing can be said for the melodic stuff we play. If we play nothing but that, you know for two hours straight, I’d probably want to shoot myself.

On both ends of the spectrum, I’m too ADD to just do one thing for thw entire time, for our entire career. So, you know, that flavor definitely has to be incorporated into every album that we release.

If someone were to launch a Kickstarter campaign to bring Nickelback to their city, what city would you hope it would be?

Well it’d have to be some place we haven’t been to yet. Probably some place like Shanghai. We’ve been trying to get there for awhile. I mean, we keep ticking cities off the list. We made it to South Africa, finally. On one of the last rounds we did. We made it over to Moscow. We made it to a few places we’ve just never been to before. There are a lot of fans that want us to come to India. It’s tough to make these things work logistically sometimes. When you’re shipping 14-17 trucks worth of stuff all over the world, and you’re trying to make this work and timelines and budgets and schedules … the whole nine yards, it’s tricky. It’s really tricky sometimes. But we try to make it work.

How do the ways people react to you and your band inspire or affect you creatively?

I don't think any type of reaction to the band, love or hate, really affects me creatively. I think my mindset when I attempt to be creative is just the biggest factor. There's no really one thing, it's "I feel like this today." So we're going to write one of these and away we go. Sometimes if the album is feeling like it's leaning one direction too far, you'll definitely say, "OK, I feel like this needs a little balance. We've got too many of this kind of song on the record, it'd be nice if it had this sort of element to it as well." The album should be like a movie, just as your set list should be like that. It should ebb and flow and there should be climactic points and there should be aggressive points and there should be more melodic tones to it. Those are always my favorite shows.

Thank you so much for being on the show. What can you tell us about touring plans?

Tickets are going to go on sale in November. We hit the road February of 2015. I'll be kissing my bed goodbye and jumping on a tour bus, and a plane and coming to a town near you.
