There was a time when we thought 'Sin City 2' would never happen. It's been eight years since the original hit theaters and director Robert Rodriguez, writer Frank Miller and the cast all seemed to have moved on. But, lo and behold, a weird thing happened and 'Sin City 2' actually got made. Today, we've got a new trailer for the long-awaited follow-up.

Watching this trailer, it's pretty obvious that if you liked the first 'Sin City' movie, you'll probably enjoy the sequel. It very much looks and feels the same as the original, and while it might not be as good, it certainly doesn't look any different.

According the official synopsis:

Weaving together two of Miller's classic stories with new tales, the town's most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants.

If this new storyline doesn't convince you, 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For' at least has its cast going for it. With a lineup that includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke and Rosario Dawson there's a lot to like here, talent-wise. And, we haven't even gotten into Eva Green, who after her completely bonkers performance in '300: Rise of an Empire' (another Frank Miller joint), has proven herself to be an actor you have to watch, no matter what she's in. Our ticket for this is sold based just on sheer curiosity to see how Green will elevate above the material as the titular dame to kill for.

We'll admit to feeling a little burned by some of Rodriguez's material of late, but maybe this is the movie that course corrects all the 'Machete' and 'Spy Kids' sequels we've had to deal with. And, the less we say about co-director Frank Miller atoning for his sins with 'The Spirit,' the better.

'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For' opens in theaters on August 22.
