Neurosis have been writing music for over 30 years, and in that time they have gone through a development in sound akin to that of a human being.

In their early days, they played gritty hardcore punk music and entrenched themselves in the East Bay of California's burgeoning scene, forming their craft and intensity. Each album saw them pushing their craft further, to becoming the forerunners of what would become sludge and post-metal. This drive to create would fuel their consistently great discography, their music bridging the gap to elements of folk and many other genres.

We dove into their discography, and ranked each album, from weakest to strongest. Through each album, never once has the band ever written anything that didn't sound like it came from a place of real exploration and skill.
