MythBusters’ 14-year run has barely had enough time to pack up its equipment, and already new faces might pick up the mantle from Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman. The Discovery-owned Science Channel has in mind to revive the famous pop-culture science phenomenon, launching a Search for the Next MythBusters reality competition to find new hosts.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Science will recruit hopefuls in search of an “all-new generation of myth-busting science superstars with mind-blowing build skills and nerves of steel.” Once selected by submission videos, the 15 contestants will be tasked with solving challenges both as classic myths from original series, and all new ones. A team of judges culled from the history of the series will evaluate and eliminate contestants, several of which could end up landing the final gig.

Says Science Channel general manager Marc Etkind:

When I got to the network, and we clearly identified MythBusters as a franchise and something that was important to Science Channel and Discovery, and it was such a beloved show, I didn’t want to let it go. So we looked really closely at what would be the best way to keep it going and invigorate it and thought, ‘Let’s host a worldwide search for the next MythBusters.’

You can see for yourself the qualifications on Science, ideally seeking “people who have building skills and are naturally inquisitive” and “don’t mind getting embarrassed a little bit,” but is it too soon to think of an all-new MythBusters team?
