Mudhoney are heading to the top of the iconic Space Needle in Seattle for a performance of epic proportions. Kicking off the 25th anniversary celebration for their record label, the grunge band will be paying homage to both Sub Pop and the city where they founded the band.

The very special gig is scheduled for July 11 and will feature the band performing over 600 feet off of the ground. According to Examiner, the band will be tethered to the top as they play their set. The show will also be broadcast on Seattle radio station  90.3 KEXP.

Although very few details have been revealed, Mudhoney did confirm the show on their Twitter account, saying, “Playing the @space_needle on July 11 to kick off the @subpop anniversary festivities," so it’s definitely not fiction.

The unique set will kick off Sub Pop Record's Silver Jubilee scheduled for July 13. The anniversary event dubbed 'A 25th Anniversary Public Display of Affection' will set up shop in Seattle's historic Georgetown neighborhood and offer up free live music, an art gallery and of course all the food, beer, and wine that go along with any great festivity. Mudhoney, now celebrating a career spanning over two and a half decades, released their latest disc ‘Vanishing Point’ in April of 2013.
