Thriftbooks.com recently posted what it's customers have been reading most in 2016, and a few of the top books are pretty telling about the state. First, let's start with our region and what we're reading most:

  • Of course we have to start with Texas, which is The Outsiders the most.
  • What about New Mexico? The Art of Bev Doolittle.

Okay, nothing too telling or strange so far. And for the most part the books aren't that strange. You have books like To Kill A Mocking Bird in Hawaii, Into the Wild in Arizona and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil in Georgia. But there are three states, with three books that are very interesting:

  • I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the Palins, but Alaska's most read book is What to Expect When You're Expecting.
  • Apparently things are a bit rough in Wisconsin because the most read book there is Alcoholics Anonymous.
  • But just across Lake Michigan, things seem to be much worse in Michigan. Number one book there? Narcotics Anonymous.
