Following the tragic news that a fan died at Miss May I's show in New York on Saturday, May 3, the band has released a statement expressing their condolences and asking people to donate to his funeral fund.

As we reported, 21-year-old Alberto Scott died after an apparent stage dive in which no one caught him. He reportedly suffered a fatal head injury when he landed. Initially, Miss May I acknowledged that an incident took place at the show, but earlier today (May 5), the band released a lengthier statement expressing their sadness over the loss of Scott.

As many of you will have heard, Alberto Scott, a Miss May I fan in attendance at our Webster Hall show on Saturday night tragically died. We were deeply shocked and saddened to hear this news. We are awaiting a full report from the New York Police Department. In the meantime, we'd ask that all your thoughts and prayers be with his family. We have been made aware of a webpage that is raising funds to help pay for his funeral costs. We will be making a contribution and we'd strongly urge others to do so- http://www.gofundme.com/8vjoqc

Once again we'd like to express our condolences to the family and friends of Alberto Scott. Miss May I's full Facebook post, with a photo of Scott, can be seen below:
