Mick Mars: Motley Crue’s Impending Farewell Is Not Due To My Health

The Sunset’s Strip’s most infamous export, Mötley Crüe, have been giving fans a piece of their action for 30 years. Their over-the-top stage show and attitude have kept them busy, playing stadiums all over the world and bringing back the spirit of ’80s. Singer Vince Neil recently reaffirmed bassist Nikki Sixx’s declaration that the band would call it quits in the near future, but guitarist Mick Mars says one of the reasons Neil gave is not accurate.

In addition to citing the band’s desire to go out on top, Neil also stated, “It’s just time. Mick’s health is not that good, and touring is tough on him.” After discovering what his bandmate had to say about his health condition, Mick Mars took to his Twitter account to downplay Neil’s words, stating, “Any rumors regarding a farewell tour due to ‘my poor health’ are BS. I am doing fine, my AS has never kept me from touring and never will.” The six-stringer clearly wants to make it clear that he’s not the reason Mötley Crüe have their eyes set on retirement in the near future.

Mars is afflicted with ankylosing spondylitis, which is form of arthritis that affects the spine and pelvis, causing chronic inflammation and even fusion of the spine. In 2004, the guitarist underwent hip replacement surgery, a direct result of the disease that has also gone on to cause scoliosis. Despite all of the pain incurred by his medical conditions, Mars has persevered and appears to have the will to keep going strong.

Coming off the massive success off of their first residency in Las Vegas, Mötley Crüe are slated to return a second installment of their residency at the Hard Rock Casino in the City of Sin. Check out the details and dates here and Mick Mars tweet on his health below:
