Max Cavalera Updates the Status of the Next Cavalera Conspiracy Album
Cavalera checked in from the studio to give an update on the album. “Pretty much I have to get into Cavalera Conspiracy mode,” says the frontman. “I wanted the new album to be faster and thrashier with the concept of Old Babylon.”
He continued, “As far as recording equipment, we use everything! We don’t rely too much on Pro Tools like other bands. All Igor’s tracks are live drums. The energy is all there and we play all the guitars and sing of top of it, so in a way, it’s like the old ways of recording.”
Cavalera Conspiracy’s debut effort ‘Inflikted’ was released in 2008, followed by ‘Blunt Force Trauma’ in 2011. Cavalera talked about the pressure of recording that crucial third album: “There’s pressure but I also like the challenge. I think it is Cavalera Conspiracy’s most and intense and fastest record yet. I am very proud of it.”
In addition to the Cavalera brothers, the lineup includes guitarist Marc Rizzo and new bassist Nate Newton. When asked about working with brother Igor, Max stated, “It has always been some kind of killer magic whenever I play with my brother. We have a special connection that comes out through the music and the crowd reacts to it in an insane way.”
Cavalera’s other bands include Soulfly, whose latest album ‘Savages’ was released last year, and the new group Killer Be Killed. The latter band, which also includes Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato, Mastodon frontman Troy Sanders and former Mars Volta drummer David Elitch, will unleash their self-titled debut album May 13.
