Welcome to Episode Four of the Loudwire Podcast! This time, we welcomed Death / Charred Walls of the Damned drummer and Howard Stern Show legend Richard Christy to our studio!

Charred Walls of the Damned will release their third studio album, Creatures Watching Over the Dead, on Sept. 23. Richard told us all about the record, especially how he takes inspiration from the more positive dynamics of life. Moments from his past also fueled the fresh album’s lyrics, like when Christy’s friends abandoned metal after experimenting with LSD in their teenage years. As Richard told us, he chose never to experiment with drugs after that, because he never wanted to risk losing that metal side of himself.

Richard Christy is featured on one of the greatest death metal albums of all time. Of course, we’re talking about Crotchduster’s Big Fat Box of S—t. After discussing the finer points of one of metal’s most bizarre cult projects, Richard went deep into his time on The Howard Stern Show and his longtime friendship with late Death frontman Chuck Schuldiner.

For this edition of ‘Rocker vs. Writer,’ we pondered which metal album would make the greatest horror film, as Christy is obsessed with the genre. We tossed around a ton of albums from King Diamond, Alice Cooper, Mastodon, Behemoth and more, so strap in for an all-out horror nerdfest with Richard Christy.
