Welcome to the second episode of the Loudwire Podcast! This time around, we were joined by Meshuggah drumming legend Tomas Haake and Orange Is the New Black star Jessica Pimentel!

At first, we were booked to only have Tomas on the podcast, but when we found out he was traveling with Jessica to promote Meshuggah’s next album, The Violent Sleep of Reason, we invited her to join in! Haake and Pimentel opened up on their relationship for one of the first times, discussing how they met, their mutual love of aggressive music and the synchronicity of their lives before romance took hold.

In this podcast’s ‘Rocker vs. Writer’ segment, we took on a near-impossible task. In the spirit of debate, we took sides to argue the greatest thrash drummer of all time: Dave Lombardo vs. Gene Hoglan. Tomas chose to speak on behalf of Gene Hoglan while Loudwire Podcast co-host Joe DiVita took the side of Lombardo. Jessica Pimental and co-host Graham Hartmann added their two cents as well, turning the discussion into an outright nerd fest (in the very best way).

We shot from the hip about the Ronnie James Dio hologram that Dio Disciples debuted at this year’s Wacken Festival. Our studio full of bodies all had very different opinions about Dio’s digital resurrection and the possibility of Dio Disciples bringing it out on tour. And finally, we closed out the podcast with some touching words from Jessica on how metal is the sound your heart makes when your voice can’t scream loud enough.
