Linkin Park vs. Chevelle – Rocktober Rumble, Round 1

It starts with one ... well actually two, as we pair up two tough competitors in Round 1 of our Rocktober Rumble tournament to determine the best hard rock hit of the 21st century. So lay down, it's about to get real with this matchup.

Linkin Park are on one side of the bracket with "In the End" off their breakout album Hybrid Theory. The song hit radio in 2001, delivering the perfect blend of aggressive vocals from Chester Bennington with Mike Shinoda's nimble mic mastery. Revisit the song in the player below.

A year later, it was Chevelle that was commanding the airwaves with "The Red," a slow burn radio rocker that was all over the airwaves and became the song that really put the Chicago sibling rockers on the map. The Wonder What's Next single became the band's signature track. Take a listen below.
