The nominees for the 2018 Billboard Music Awards have been announced, and while there's not a lot of hard rock and metal representation, those who have made the cut are getting a fair shake. The primary acts in contention this year are Guns N' Roses and Linkin Park.

Guns N' Roses have been nominated largely off their touring, with nods for Top Touring Artist, where they face competition from Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and U2, and Top Rock Tour, where Coldplay and U2 are the competition.

Linkin Park, meanwhile, have been nominated for Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album for One More Light, and Top Rock Song for "Heavy," the track they recorded with pop singer Kiiara. In the Top Rock Artist category, they face off against Imagine Dragons, Portugal. The Man, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Twenty One Pilots. Their Top Rock Album competition includes Imagine Dragons' Evolve, Panic! at the Disco's Death of a Bachelor, Portugal. The Man's Woodstock and U2's Songs of Experience. For Top Rock Song, they square off against Imagine Dragons twice for "Believer" and "Thunder," Portugal. The Man's "Feel It Still" and The Revivalists' "Wish I Knew You."

With the Billboard Music Awards, the various chart performance of the acts is of primary importance. You can see the full list of nominees over at Billboard.

This year, the Billboard Music Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 20. NBC will have the broadcast at 8PM ET / 5PM PT.
