Supposedly leaked footage of Halo 5: Guardians has the masses breaking out the torches and pitchforks for the inclusion of a new, 'aiming down sights' mechanic.

MP1ST reports that four gameplay clips of Halo 5: Guardians' multiplayer beta have surfaced (343 Industries is cracking down on most avenues hosting the footage). The Halo community has responding to this footage with varying levels of reception. Of course, fans of the series are just glad to finally see what it looks like. Fans of other FPS titles and die hard Halo heads are butting heads over the new ADS scoping animation of the Battle Rifle. The rifle now has an optic attachment that lets players look down the sights and zoom, similar to the aiming mechanic of most modern FPS titles.

The video footage featured two different maps, with one of them appearing to be the classic Halo 2 map, Midship. Weapons showcased in the videos include the Battle Rifle, Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Energy Sword, Grenade Launcher and Pistol. Players were seen with the ability to sprint, meaning this function has returned from Halo 4.

John Holmes, 343 Industries' Studio Head for Halo 5: Guardians, confirmed the following:

Halo 5's beta will supposedly take place from Dec. 29 to Jan. 18, focusing on 4v4 action on 7 different maps with 11 weapons and 7 different armor sets. To participate in the beta, you will need to own Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Halo 5 better have a live action trailer:
