After a breakthrough with their 2013 album Meir, Kvelertak are back on the radar with a new album called Nattesferd en route on May 13.

Frontman Erlend Hjelvik commented, "We are finally getting ready to release our third album Nattesferd on the world and however cliché it may sound, I'm not afraid to say that this is our best one yet! An exquisite smorgasbord of riffs infused with everything between the best of classic rock and heavy metal. I'm certain it will blow the minds of both old and new fans. Enjoy!"

The band recorded and self-produced the effort in Oslo, Norway at Amper Tone Studio, marking the first of the band's albums to be recorded in their home country of Norway. In advance of the new album, the group is sharing a new song called "1985," which just premiered at NPR. The group said of the track, which can be heard here, "Think of George Orwell's 1984 instead of Taylor Swift's 1989. Its lyrics depict a cold and (not so) distant future where technology and surveillance have erased all forms of individuality and critical thinking. Needless to say, everything was better before — can somebody hit the rewind button already?"

Before the album arrives in May, Kvelertak are returning to North America for a headlining trek. The band is taking out Torche and Wild Throne for dates beginning April 12 in Portland, Maine. The tour continues through a May 6 finale in Los Angeles. Torche will be replaced by Mutoid Man on a couple of stops. See the full itinerary below.
