'Guitar Center Sessions' have welcomed an eclectic mix of rockers to their Hollywood stage in recent years, and Korn are the latest to film an episode of the Nic Harcourt-hosted series.

The band taped their episode Wednesday night (Sept. 11) in Los Angeles, and rest assured that their live performance thoroughly rocked the house. In a sweaty room drenched with bright lights, the band brought the heavy. Frontman Jonathan Davis, singing into his instantly recognizable silver microphone stand, was flanked by bassist Fieldy and returning guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch to his right, with guitarist Munky to the left as drummer Ray Luzier pounded away behind the kit.

A stellar rendition of 'Falling Away From Me' opened the performance portion, followed by an extra funk-filled rendition of 'Did My Time' with some of bassist Fieldy's nastiest licks taking the song to the next level. Is it possible that Davis, wearing a shirt featuring the slogan "Drop the Bass" was just being prophetic? Perhaps! But the low end of Fieldy and Luzier also brought some extra energy to 'Get Up.'

After opening the set with three older favorites, the band transitioned into music from their upcoming album 'The Paradigm Shift.' The guitar-driven 'Love & Meth' will be a fine addition to their live sets, especially with Davis dropping the vocals to a more guttural level at points. Current single 'Never Never,' bolstered by Munky's backing vocals, is an immediate standout and 'Prey for Me' has breakout potential, as well.

During the new songs, there were a few more takes as the tracks as the band is still working out the live rendition of those tunes. However, the audience were given the chance to see some of the looseness and camaraderie that's part of the Korn camp in between filming. They come off as a band who are truly enjoying what they do.

Closing out the evening, the band dropped two of their most familiar hits -- 'Freak on a Leash' and 'Got the Life' -- bringing the performance portion of the show to its adrenaline filled completion.

As the show just taped this week, an official air date has not been assigned as of yet, but expect the Korn 'Guitar Center Sessions' episode to air this fall while the band is still hot on the promotional trail for 'The Paradigm Shift.' 'Guitar Center Sessions' airs on DirecTV's Audience Network (that's station 239 on your guide, DirecTV subscribers).
