‘Kong: Skull Island’ Has the Biggest Version of King Kong Yet

King Kong is set to fight Godzilla again in 2020, but the iconic ape’s size puts him at a bit of an unfair disadvantage, and ultimately makes this battle of the beasts seem a little…pointless. Thankfully, it seems that Warner Bros. and Legendary are aware of this particular issue, as it was recently revealed that Kong has undergone a fairly sizable growth spurt for Skull Island, which will give us the biggest version of the classic movie monster yet.

THR was on hand during a special Warner Bros. presentation at CineEurope, which featured footage from upcoming films like Suicide Squad and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. During the event, Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts teased a slightly different version of the eponymous ape:

This is going to be the biggest Kong there’s ever been. Not 10 foot or 30 foot, but a 100-foot ape.

Traditionally, Kong has been about 50 feet tall, while Godzilla measures several times that at 300 feet high. Not really a fair fight, to say the least. While a 100-foot Kong is definitely a better match, he’s still just one-third the size of his epic lizard opponent. Still, it should make things more interesting.

Kong: Skull Island stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Reilly, John Goodman, Jason Mitchell, Toby Kebbell and more, and will explore the origins of one of cinema’s most famous monsters. The film doesn’t hit theaters until March 10, 2017, but WB is expected to present a first look at the film at Comic-Con next month.
