Former college and NFL quarterback, Ken "The Snake" Stabler", has passed away at the age of 69, according to a statement by his family.

Reports indicate Stabler died of colon cancer on Wednesday July 8th, 2015.

To say that Stabler was a high school and college legend in Alabama is an understatement. The Snake was football in the state of Alabama.

Following a standout career at the University of Alabama, Stabler played 15 years in the NFL. Most of his time was spent with the Oakland Raiders (10 years), but he also played for the Houston Oilers and New Orleans Saints.

Stabler is considered by many as the greatest NFL QB not in the Hall of Fame following a stellar career that included a Super Bowl victory in 1977.

We'll continue to update this story as it develops.
