Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October Talks Latest Album ‘Sway’, Punches Chaz in the Gut and Does Hilarious Impersonations
Blue October recently stopped off in Abilene and played one of the most amazing shows we’ve ever had. Well, before the show, frontman Justin Furstenfeld stopped by the Rock 108 studios and talked with Frank Pain and I about everything from the band and his sobriety, to doing hilarious impersonations. It was truly one of the most memorable interviews I’ve ever been a part of.
I’ve broken the interview up into 4 segments. And, I’ve also included the songs that we played on the air during the interview.
In the first segment, we talk about Justin’s sobriety and how he is able to get himself back into that dark mode when doing the older Blue October songs.

In this second segment, we talked about the opening band, Tori Vasquez, who was also amazing. Plus, Justin provided some hilarious sound effects, and we talked about the song “Bleed Out” off of the album “Sway”.

In this 3rd segment, Frank starts it off with a bang by breaking one of our chairs in the studio. Plus, Justin did more impersonations, we talked about C.B. being back in the band, and we had a “Dukes of Hazzard” moment.

In the fourth and final segment, Justin tapped into his inner Arsenio Hall, and capped it all off with the funniest Michael McDonald (singer for Doobie Brothers) impression we’ve ever witnessed.

I hope you enjoyed the interview. Personally, this is one of my favorite interviews I’ve ever been a part of. Justin is such a cool dude and we can’t wait to have the band back in Abilene.
