With the Black Stone Cherry concert approaching on Sunday, John Fred Young took some time to call in and chat with The Painman on The Morning After. The drummer talked about their current tour, legends they've played with, legends they want to play with, family life, growing up in music and coming to Texas to kick some ass (on stage).

Since the interview was so long, we broke it up into three segments.

In the first segment, we talked about their love of touring, their love of Texas, touring with Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and writing new music for their next album.

In the second segment, John Fred Young talked about growing up with the other members of the band, playing the Download Festival in England with Slipknot, playing dueling banjos for the mayor of a town that caught them shooting off fireworks in a parking lot, and his favorite songs they have written.

In the final segment, we talk about the music that influences the band, growing up as offspring of country music legends the Kentucky Headhunters, and the legendary band that Black Stone Cherry would love to tour with.
