With a new album, ‘The Great Escape Artist,’ out for a few months and their latest single, ‘Underground,’ buzzing at radio, Jane’s Addiction are ready to return to the road for their first dates of 2012 — and this time, one of rock’s most theatrical acts is adding a suitably theatrical twist: the band will be stopping at “classic theatres” during a run of dates that will see them playing intimate venues across the country.

“We chose to play as many of the great theatres that we could find because we wanted to immerse the audience in a unique experience unlike any they have ever seen at a rock show,” said frontman Perry Farrell in a statement. “Expect an orgy of musical and visual delights. We like orgies, and hope you do, too.”

Billed as the Theatre of the Escapists Tour, the upcoming dates kick off Feb. 22, with tickets going on sale Jan. 14 and a special pre-sale scheduled for tomorrow (Jan. 11). Though venues and dates haven’t been revealed yet, the band did announce that Black Box Revelation will be their supporting act for the tour.
