Please say it ain't so! There is a possibility that Phil Robertson, patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family, will be leaving the show. The guys recently did an interview with Parade magazine and Phil was asked how long he planned to stay on the show. Phil says he's not in it for the long haul. His response isn't exactly what fans want to hear.

How much longer does patriarch Phil plan to be part of the show?
“Not long. But I think it’ll go on without me.”

The show does have a few changes coming this season, however. They have a new addition of Phil's oldest son, Alan. Alan is clean shaven and has been a preacher for the last 20 years. He is taking on the responsibility of public relations liaison.

So is adding Alan to the show in preparation for Phil's departure? A&E says the crew is under contract past Season 4, which will begin August 14th. Alan also rebukes the idea that Phil is leaving anytime soon.

If you watch the show and are familiar with Phil he speaks his mind without really thinking things through; similar to Si. While I would hate to lose Phil, I'm not sure he is pivotal to the show. The dynamic characters are Jace, Willie and Uncle Si...the rest are just a bonus. If you think about it, there are episodes where Phil makes only a small appearance anyway.

I'm sure we will have plenty more Duck Dynasty with the Robertson's, including Phil.

Do you think the show would go on without Phil?
