Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour is celebrating the release his new book, America 51As part of the physical novel, Taylor also released an audiobook alongside it, featuring himself narrating the words. Recently, he and Hachette Books released an excerpt of the audiobook, which you can now listen to in the player below.

Hearing the book from Taylor's perspective gives it a lot of character, even more so from the straight text. The excerpt from the novel has Taylor speaking about his reaction to Donald Trump, and what his reaction will be when the right tries to go after causes he cares about. His reading voice is animated, feeling as though you're in a room with Corey while he's speaking frankly about his thoughts. He's able to make references to cult movies and novelists from sentence to sentence, making it all connect perfectly.

Taylor's been sharing his thoughts with numerous people recently, earlier this week appearing on Larry King Now to talk about his new book. He spoke about his opinion on Kid Rock's senate bid, saying, “I’ve heard he is really, really cool, but I think the worst thing that people can do is assume you can fill a role that you have no experience in. I mean, we are kinda seeing that with the President now.”

We caught up with him recently before a book signing, where he spoke out against people calling Soundgarden's Chris Cornell and Linkin Park's Chester Bennington "cowards" for committing suicide. “Calling them ‘cowards’ is a very immature way of looking at it,” Taylor says. “It’s the easy way to look at something like that because it makes you not have to face what a serious issue it is. It’s easy for someone to label it like that so they can turn their back on it and pretend that it was something that didn’t happen to them, when inside they’re hurting. People who fight depression are almost in a constant state of hurting.”
