Hardin-Simmons University Presents ‘The Texas Flyer’ with Nashville Artist Larry Gatlin March 20-22

Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers got their start right here in Abilene when they won a talent contest held at Hardin-Simmons University. They, of course, went on to a very successful country music career that garnered many awards including a Grammy. Now Larry Gatlin is back with a musical written and starring the man himself.The musical is about a Texas cafe owner and widower, who has distanced himself from life. In addition to writing the musical (28 songs) Gatlin also plays the lead role.

The play will also feature Bachelor of Fine Arts candidates from the Musical Theatre and Acting tracks in HSU’s Department of Theatre.
