If you’re a Green Day fan, then the next several months are going to be good ones for you, as the band is flooding the marketplace with material. Not all of it is new, either. Ahead of the trio’s upcoming trilogy -’Green Day ¡Uno!’ (Sept. 25), ‘Green Day ¡Dos!’ (Nov. 13) and ‘Green Day ¡Tré!’ (Jan. 15)- the band is also planning a career-spanning, eight-CD box set, due Sept. 4.

‘The Studio Albums 1990-2009′ collects the band’s definitive albums and charts its inimitable history as one of rock’s most important acts.

Included in the set is Green Day’s 1990 debut ’1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours,’ which was recorded in 22 hours, according to the sleeve notes; 1992′s ‘Kerplunk,’ their final release for the now-defunct Lookout!; 1994′s put-’em-on-the-map breakthrough ‘Dookie; 1995′s megaseller ‘Insomniac’; 1997′s ‘Good Riddance (The Time of Your Life)’-producing ‘Nimrod,’ which marked a bit of a sonic shift for the band; 2000′s experimental ‘Warning’; 2004′s gamechanging ‘American Idiot,’ which became the subject of a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical; and 2009′s No. 1-charting ’21st Century Breakdown.’

The packaging will feature each album housed in an individual CD paper-sleeve with original artwork in a clamshell box. All eight albums are packaged under one roof, so to speak, offering both an in-depth and completist look at (and listen to) Green Day’s history. From their early days as snotty, East Bay punks to their work that inspired a Broadway musical, it’s all here.

The set will be available exclusively via Best Buy.
