Green Day appear to be back at work in a new video posted by Billie Joe Armstrong on Instagram. The group has admittedly been taking their time returning to music after unleashing the trio of albums -- Uno, Dos and Tre -- in 2012. Since the recording cycle for that disc, Armstrong entered rehab and there were several health issues for members of the extended Green Day family that led to the band taking a bit of a break.

Last spring, around the time of their April induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Armstrong revealed that the band had gotten back to working on music with "four or five songs" in the works, but admitted, "We're going to take our time. We're not going to try and pull off some, like victory lap over this because I definitely want the music to come from a real place and be inspired."

In the time since, Green Day have kept a low profile, though they did release a holiday song late last year called "Xmas Time of the Year," their first new offering since the album trilogy. Over the last few months, Armstrong has hinted that the band was back at work, with his latest video giving a tour around their space. In the clip, the singer shows Tre Cool delivering some percussion and peeks in on some of their production crew while Armstrong "do do do's" over the video tour.

Other past photos and videos showed Armstrong behind the mic, nodding along to some Tre Cool beats and giving a look at some major reconfiguring of the wiring. See those below.

In other Green Day related news, after making headlines with Billie Joe Armstrong's open letter encouraging a Connecticut school to allow a high school production of American Idiot, Green Day are happy to announce that Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield, N.J., will be adapting a version of the production for an April 14 debut.

"Piloting American Idiot is an incredible experience because we're getting to work with a piece of living, breathing theatre," stated Ashley Bauers, music teacher at Dayton High and director of the pilot. "More importantly, we're confronting issues this show brings up that are vital and relevant topics to discuss with our kids. Ideally, the audience will walk away from this production empowered to have these conversations with their loved ones."

Also, fans can look forward to Billie Joe Armstrong back on the big screen. The film Geezer, starring Armstrong as a father of two seeking to reclaim his former life as a popular punk band singer on his 40th birthday, will screen at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on April 23.
