Gojira Release Video for New Track ‘Stranded’

Gojira have just released the first single from their upcoming album, Magma. The new track, “Stranded,” has been accompanied by a music video, which combines the band's performance with some bizarre imagery.

Magma is Gojira’s first album since L’Enfant Sauvage brought the French metal band a new level of popularity in 2012. Ever since, fans have been anxiously awaiting Gojira’s next work, the first part of which has debuted today.

“Stranded” utilizes Gojira’s signature chugging and “elephants marching” rhythm style along with some experimental pitch-shifted guitar. The song is driven largely by the Duplantier brothers, frontman Joe and drummer Mario, with a little spotlight shown on bassist Jean-Michel Labadie after the first chorus of “Stranded.”

Magma was largely influenced by the tragic death of Joe and Mario Duplantier’s mother, who passed away last year. "When you read Joe's lyrics, for me, I cry right away," Mario tells Rolling Stone. "They're very deep and to the point. No bulls--t. We recycle our sadness and depression in the music."

"Mario was recording drums, and I was playing guitar with him, just trying to help him know where he's at in the song, and both of us would start crying at the same time," Joe adds.
