The basic idea of the Girl Scouts selling cookies as launched nearly a hundred years ago in 1917.

Think about this, the average Girl Scout sells 126 boxes.  Some sell thousands. It's a crazy cookie business and it coming to town. Luckily our favorite stores and supermarkets have realized that there is no stopping the sales and allow the scouts to sell at their doorsteps.  Each year there are a few nutjobs who try to push an anti-cookie sales agenda (almost all for laughable and not even real issues), but their concerns are used to wash down the tasty treats. You JUST DON'T STOP Girl Scout Cookie sales. It does not happen.

Top of the cookie chain is the Thin Mint, with Samoas not too far behind. The rest of the list goes like this: Savannas/Carmel deLites,Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs, Do-si-dos/Peanut butter Sandwich,Trefoils/Shortbread, and then everything else.  So this leads to another question, what's with the screwy names? Well the reason most have two names are that they are baked by different bakeries.  The exception, of course, is the Thin Mint, which is a Thin Mint where ever you go.

Go ahead and help the little green girls when you can. If you're on a diet, donate your cookies to Meals On Wheels of a food bank. Someone will enjoy the delicious treats.
