Jon Snow is not dead. At least, he won’t technically stay that way. You know it, we know it, and Game of Thrones can withhold all the Season 6 screeners they like - we know there’s more story to tell. Poor Kit Harington has had to duck the question for months, but a new interview sees the erstwhile Jon Snow at least admit he’s shot scenes … with one small caveat.

You’re warned of whatever you consider Jon Snow spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 6 at this point, but where Harington has been photographed on-and-off the Game of Thrones set well through this past year’s production, and alluded to the show remaining a part of his life, the actor somewhat re-framed his answer in a new Time Out interview:

Kit Harington: ‘Look, I’m not in the show any more. I’m definitely not in the new series.’

Time Out: ‘So you didn’t film any new scenes?’

KH: ‘I filmed some scenes of me being dead – [jokily] it’s some of my best work.’

TO: ‘Do you know what happens in the series or have you lost your privileges?’

KH: ‘I don’t have a clue. I know how long I’m a corpse for, but I can’t tell you that!’

Harington is far from the first actor to resurface in a subsequent season as their character’s corpse, following Charles Dance in Season 5, and what looks to be another royal family member in Season 6, but Harington hasn’t often (if ever) acknowledged shooting actual scenes for Season 6. Either way, we’ve all more or less made peace with cast and crew resorting to flat-out lies to conceal Jon Snow’s fate, admittedly preferring the semantic loophole of “Jon Snow is dead [but could absolutely be resurrected].”

We’ll find out for sure with the rest of you on April 24, but either way, should you encounter Kit Harington in the wild, offer him a hearty *boop* to the nose. He’s still adorable.
