Former Pearl Jam Executive Receives 14-Month Prison Sentence

A messy chapter in the Pearl Jam history has come to an end as Rickey Charles Goodrich has been sentenced to 14 months in prison after embezzling funds from the band.

According to the Seattle Post Intelligencer, Goodrich used his position as chief financial officer at the band’s management company, Curtis Management, to steal $380,000 over a four-year period before he was fired from his position in September 2010.

Seattle Police determined that the thefts cost the band’s management company a total of $566,000, including investigative expenses. Goodrich previously admitted to bilking the band of the funds and pleaded guilty to six counts of first-degree theft.

According to reports, the prosecutors in the case were prepared to ask for six months in jail for the offense if Goodrich paid back the money prior to the hearing, but the accountant failed to do so.

After noticing some “cash flow issues,” the band’s manager conducted a financial review and investigators uncovered Goodrich’s false claims of paying thousands of dollars to band members and crew that were unaccounted for.

Goodrich is expected to report to the Department of Corrections later this month.
