Foo Fighters fans in Italy are planning to come together in an attempt to bring the band overseas. In the Italian city of Cesena, 1,000 die-hard Foo fans will potentially gather for a public jam of 'Learn to Fly.'

Foo Fighters fans in Richmond, Va., came up with a brilliant and unique plan to bring Foo Fighters to the city for the first time since 1999. The goal was to sell 1,400 tickets for a Foo Fighters show that didn't exist yet, hoping the band would come pay the gig … and it worked. A similar campaign began in Birmingham, England, later in the year, but the Foos have yet to respond.

Much like the Richmond crusade, the massive Italian jam session is a shot in the dark. The Rockin' 1000 project is attempting to collect €40,000 (roughly $50,000) to fund the actual 'Learn to Fly' event. The money will go towards electricity, permits, amps, miles of cables, headphones, mixers, trucks, drones, camera operators, lighting and more. As for the actual 1,000 performers, 250 singers, 350 guitarists, 150 bassists and 250 drummers are being sought.

The organizers hope to stage the performance in July and then send the video off to Dave Grohl. With the 'Learn to Fly' clip, Rockin' 1000 will invite Foo Fighters to perform in Cesena, Italy. Additionally, the crowd funders would like Grohl to perform a song in one of the organizers' homes, where the most generous contributors will also experience the intimate performance.

So far, about €1,500 has been raised. For more info on the Rockin' 1000 campaign, check out the group's website.
