The Fireworks display was back in Abilene once again after a one year absence from the Fourth of July festivities - and, holy crap,  did they ever come back. There is no doubt in my mind, that this year's display was the best I have ever seen in Abilene - period!

Me and the family got out to Nelson Park pretty early to get a good seat.  We hung out, ate some hot dogs and let the kids play for a while.   I have to admit, I was not 100% sure that Abilene should be having a fireworks display at all with the dry conditions, but they did take every precaution for a safe display.  Fields were plowed to take out the chances of sparks hitting dry grass, and the Abilene Fire Department were on hand in case something happened.

All went off without a hitch.

Around 9:30, they did a preview of the fireworks show which lasted about 15 minutes.  I have to say, even that was better than some of the shows I've seen in Abilene.  Then the real show started and it did not disappoint.

I don't think my pictures will do the show justice, but check out my pics of the fireworks display in Abilene.  If you got some cool pics of the show, feel free to post them up on our Facebook page.
