Sorry folks, fireworks are like pot and porn, no matter what you're going to do, you're not going to make them go away. Read more after the break.

Another community nearby has instituted a fireworks ban and once it again it will be ignored and unenforced. You just can't ban "fun" and fireworks are "fun". Instead of some lame ban on fireworks, the county or counties involved should regulate them to some place that is a lower fire hazard. Plus, imagine how much fun it would be if everyone was lighting off their fireworks at one place. It would be dangerous as hell, but it would be fun.

I used to have two skittish dogs who'd jump the fence when fireworks would go off. I would bring them in on the night of the 4th of July and let everyone around me have fun, but one year that fun kept going on past eleven that night. I called the cops and the dispatcher said "well, it IS the 4th of July". My response of course was "well, they ARE firing them in city limits which is supposed to be illegal". She said they'd send a car out but never did. Oh well, 911 is a joke in my neighborhood.

You see, fireworks are ingrained in our blood and in our freedom. Anybody remember the song with "the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air"? To most people that does not conjure up images of the revolutionary war, it reminds them of fireworks and picnics and barbeques.

Now Memorial Day isn't a BIG fireworks holiday, but some cities are seeing fit to "ban" them just the same. I really don't think anyone will keep anyone else from firing fireworks and at least it's a lot less dangerous than firing guns in the air which some assh@les that don't understand gravity still do.

Whats your thoughts? Have you ever been "busted" for fireworks? Is it worth ANYONES time to enforce something like this? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

In the meantime, here's the best fireworks display ever...."Cochise" by Audioslave.
