Additional Information

The 57th annual Rattlesnake Round-Up is March 13th, through 15th at the Nolan Country Coliseum in Sweetwater. In 1958 the Sweetwater Jaycees started this event as a way to control the overpopulation of rattlesnakes that were hurting people and endangering livestock. Today, this event draws over 40,000 visitors each year.

The Rattlesnake Roundup features food booths, a Barbecue Cook-off, dances Friday and Saturday night, a carnival, a giant flea-market in the horse barns and a gun show in the Coliseum Annex.
