The 57th annual Rattlesnake Round-Up is March 13th, through 15th at the Nolan Country Coliseum in Sweetwater. In 1958 the Sweetwater Jaycees started this event as a way to control the overpopulation of rattlesnakes that were hurting people and endangering livestock. Today, this event draws over 40,000 visitors each year.
The Rattlesnake Roundup features food booths, a Barbecue Cook-off, dances Friday and Saturday night, a carnival, a giant flea-market in the horse barns and a gun show in the Coliseum Annex.

Even with all the other things going on, the rattlesnakes are the main attraction. Bus tours take people out on tours to let people get the feel of the rattlesnake's habitat.
