Eddie Hermida Sets the Record Straight on Leaving All Shall Perish to Focus on Suicide Silence
One of this year’s biggest news stories revolves around deathcore vocalist Eddie Hermida. Nearly a year after Suicide Silence frontman Mitch Lucker died of injuries suffered from a motorcycle accident, Hermida was named as the band’s new singer. Eddie Hermida, as you may know, was the vocalist for All Shall Perish, but left the band to pursue his career in Suicide Silence. There are a million questions just waiting to be asked, and Hermida has finally answered many of them.
Hermida isn’t the only musician who has recently departed from All Shall Perish. Founding guitarist Ben Orum left the deathcore group in late 2012 to focus on being a father. Orum, however, hasn’t given up on music, as he’s currently active with the recent upstart death metal act Oblivion.
As for Hermida, Metal Injection just posted an exclusive interview with the singer, shining a spotlight on the inside info behind Hermida bowing out of All Shall Perish. “The full-time aspect for Suicide Silence was always part of the deal,” Hermida says. “Just know that I did everything in my power to stay in All Shall Perish and work both projects. The ASP boys will say that I quit when I decided to take the reigns in SS. I will say that I was asked to step away by my bandmates because they didn’t want my schedule with SS to interfere with their future. Either way All Shall Perish has my heart and soul built into it and I will always support the work we did together.”
Hermida also confirmed that he’s working on new Suicide Silence material. “We are writing as I am typing this! So stoked to see this all come together. Such a different writing process. A lot of musical clay molding going on. Expect heavy, expect different.”
